A double storey extension incorporated a new ground floor cinema room whilst a single storey extension at the far end of the house created a lovely large reception room. The new chimney, using bricks salvaged from site, enabled us to move the fireplace into the centre of the room, creating a wonderful symmetry – housing a traditional log burner. Decorated in soft greys and with large doors opening up onto the garden and pool area, this has become a wonderful space to enjoy the views.
Our clients wanted a home that was family-focused but also luxurious enough to entertain and host friends. By adding a main entrance hall to the house, we flooded a previously dark space with light, using traditional oak pillars and a modern take on the traditional lantern. The existing hallway was also modernised with bespoke floor to ceiling shaker panelling and a beautiful new limestone fireplace.
Taking our lead from the wonderful surroundings, floor to ceiling oak windows, French doors and a glass balustrade balcony were built for the master bedroom which let the natural light flood in and open up the view.
The main staircase was moved and a new bespoke staircase made using oak and glass. This now reflects light from the beautifully crafted conservatory through the heart of the house and up to the second floor landing. Here we added a roof lantern to bring in as much natural light as possible – transforming the atmosphere of this central space.
